CentrePointe Business Park
1865 West and 1885 West. 2100 South., Salt Lake City, Utah
Land consisting of 12.6 acres, previously utilized as a trucking headquarters and maintenance facility for a national carrier, was re-developed into a Research and Development Campus for three building sites. Two structures are 53,000 square feet each, and a third is 110,000 square feet. All buildings have a partial second floor with grand lobbies and stair cases connecting two office levels, with the higher cubed space in each building utilized for research and development.
The Park utilized a more intense level of landscaping than most facilities, and incorporates outdoor common space with water features, shading structures, and privacy panels along with stone seating. The buildings incorporate energy efficiency in orientation and window exposure, and mechanical equipment is concealed from view with high parapets.
Amedica occupies the entire Building B in the Park, utilizing the two story area for offices, and the single story with tall ceilings for production and research. The Production Area is secured tightly due to the nature of the operations and to protect proprietary information. Distribution systems for natural gas, nitrogen, compresses air, power, data and communications are handled above the accessible ceilings. Clean room environments were mandatory to meet sanitation requirements for medical implants. Vibration isolation was also addressed for precision machining and quality control. Organization of the interior was based on the optimum flow of materials from receipt through ceramic manufacturing, rough machining, quality controls, final machining, finishing, packaging and shipping. Expansion space was always considered when placing equipment.
